We’ve spoken to Herefordshire FA Chief Executive Alan Darfi about the impact of the lockdown in England on grassroots football.

Here’s what Alan had to say:

”Whilst it is obviously gutting to have to postpone all grassroots football activity again, hopefully there is now an end in sight and, once we are over the latest restrictions, we’ll be in a position where everyone can finally get back to doing what they love most, playing or supporting grassroots football up and down the County.

“I know how hard everyone is going to find not getting their football fix, with us being inundated with people commenting on how happy they were when it was back in December, albeit briefly.

“Whilst it remains to be seen when and how activity will resume, it goes without saying that work will continue behind the scenes to ensure that we can hit the ground running when we can. However, like most businesses impacted by the restrictions, we are going to have to make the most of the furlough scheme to offset the financial impact.

“We will be here to support however and hopefully we’ll all be back sooner rather than later.”
