A Herefordshire team has been left with no choice but to withdraw from the league ahead of the new season, after failing to find a manager.

A statement shared by Shobdon FC on social media said:

Shobdon FC statement

“Sadly after a search for someone to take over and manage the men’s team, trying many, many avenues there has been no interest.

“Therefore this sadly leaves the club in no position to run a men’s team for the 2024/25 season.

“Pre season always sees players training with other clubs, and when you have no fixed manager to organise then it becomes hard to get any commitment from players.

“Commitment in grassroots football is a tough thing to find at best of times and clubs rely upon volunteers to take up and keep these teams running through some difficult situations.

“It does take much commitment from individuals and sadly we cannot progress this for the coming season.

“We will be back, we have a very strong youth section, with 8 teams going to represent the Dons in the coming season, with plans in place to migrate the U16s to men’s football for 2025/26 season.”
