Tickets are now on sale for the annual muddy run through Haugh Woods near Fownhope organised by Wye Valley Runners of Hereford.

The Muddy Woody 6 race is now in its 26th year and continues to sell out every year.

With 3 months to go before race day on 11th Feb almost half of the places have already been snapped up.

The entry fees of £18 for club runners and £20 for unattached runners come with chip timing, a free bespoke T-shirt, free Tea and doughnut, free parking, a fully marshalled course, prizes galore and, 6 miles of mud and steep hills – usually in wet and cold conditions – what’s not to love!

Despite this being one of the best value races around, organisers are very aware that some people are feeling the pinch right now.

To help with that they are offering 10 free places to any Your Herefordshire follower who may want to run but genuinely can’t afford to at the moment.

Race Director Peter Nugent explained:

“For the past 40 years Wye Valley Runners has prided itself on being an inclusive community club.

“Running is for everyone regardless of ability to pay. So if you find yourself keen to run but can’t afford to enter just send us an email at wyevalleyracing@gmail.com in complete confidence before 1st December.

“Tell us why you’d like a free place. We will review all applications and choose ten people to receive their free place.

“The lucky winners will be treated the same as other runners – no one will know who has applied for the free places.

“If you can afford to enter we encourage everyone to enter soon before all places are booked up”
