By Mr Andrew Martin:
“I write this letter to you after weeks and months of deliberation owing to the current disaster this city is facing with the decisions being made by our Herefordshire Council (most recently the overspend on Widemarsh Street, St Owen Street and the new road enforcement cameras).
“Having been born and bred in Hereford (38 years) I have noticed much change to the landscape and year after year what I know this lovely city to be is disappearing before my eyes. Decisions made by this council and very much the council before (they are all to blame) are killing this once beautiful city which I find extremely sad especially as it is a place I try and push many people to visit.
“I believe the time has come where all councillors who make the decisions on behalf of the taxpayer need to start explaining their answers to us, the taxpayer!
“I am absolutely fed up by the lack of explanation on why decisions are made which are extremely detrimental to us and there is no easy way for the residents of Herefordshire to give opinions on these decisions in a form of debate especially as we are the ones who put these people in power. They work for us, not the other way around!
“I find it extremely difficult to see what this current council have achieved or what their plans for the future with the exception of vastly expensive projects where there are more pressing issues that need resolving.
“Fair enough if they get allocated money for certain projects but there are bigger priorities!
“The issues I feel critically need addressing are as follows.”
1. Roads
2. Housing
3. Council spending
4. Child services
5. River Wye pollution
“The council need to hear our voice and I write to you all to join me in requesting m that a monthly council meeting take place with a public audience so we can get our voices heard. The current process for the taxpayer to question the council is appalling and I personally have had enough.
“A very disgruntled Hereford resident and taxpayer.”
