NMITE HOSTS FUTURE SKILLS FAIR IN ITS BLACKFRIARS CAMPUS And confirms other events in its Herefordshire Skills for the Future programme.
NMITE (New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering) in Hereford will be hosting a Future Skills Fair from 4-7pm on 27 April to encourage young people in years 10-13 or above to explore options for the next steps in their education, career or training across all sectors, or to help kick-start their future career.
Aimed at people looking to figure out their next steps in employment, education, or training, a range of exhibitors will be on hand to help you. Featuring colleges, universities, training providers and a wide variety of businesses from a range of different sectors, the fair will give visitors the chance to network directly with people who can help to shape futures.
During the fair parents and carers will have the opportunity to help guide their children in a new direction or even find a new path for themselves.
“Working with The Herefordshire Skills for the Future team on the Future Skills Fair allows us to raise employment aspirations in the county and is not only a great way to showcase the type of job and opportunities that engineering offers” says President and Chief Executive Officer, NMITE, Elena Rodriguez-Falcon
NMITE’s academic team will be running half hour interactive engineering challenges (at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30pm) for limited numbers of pre-booked students. These sessions include a series of short and fun engineering challenges that require lateral thinking and creative problem-solving. NMITE will have 2-3 challenges that will require small teams to come up with solutions to problems that might face a team of engineers.
The Herefordshire Skills for the Future programme is a fully funded project that is made possible by the European Social Fund grant. The aim of the project is to increase skills provision in Herefordshire through a range of activities for both young people and local businesses.
Two current opportunities include:
· Springboard: NMITE’s Early Career Leadership Programmes which is a fully funded training and development programme for Herefordshire microbusinesses and SMEs is also accepting applications for its April intake.
· Ross-on-Wye Skills Forum (30th March) a free Employer Engagement Forum to share thoughts on the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in Ross-on-Wye and Herefordshire
The Future Skills Fair will be held at NMITE’s Blackfriars Campus (New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering, Blackfriars Street, Hereford, HR4 9HS). Students who wish to book their place for the challenge, can do so here.
