Fire crews have been called to a fire involving a vehicle on the A49 in Herefordshire this afternoon.

The incident has occurred on the A49 at Dinmore Hill.

The blaze has also spread to the nearby verge and vegetation, leading to a road closure.

An update from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service:

“Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Hereford Fire Station was called at 13:05 on 17 June to a small vehicle on fire on the A49 at Hope-under-Dinmore. A petrol car was well alight and the fire had spread to around 10m by 10m of roadside vegetation.

“The fire is being fought by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hosereel jets.

“The A49 was closed in both directions although the southbound carriageway is now reopened. There are no casualties.

“Police are also in attendance and the incident is ongoing.
