Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews remain on the scene of a large fire near Ross-on-Wye.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:

“Four Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Whitchurch, Ross-on-Wye, Fownhope and Hereford Fire Stations – plus a water carrier from Peterchurch, an incident command unit from Ledbury and the environmental protection unit from Tenbury Wells, supported by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Cinderford and Newent, were called at 19:57 on 13 February to an agricultural building fire in Coughton, Ross-on-Wye.

“The fire involved a single-storey building, around 20m by 20m, containing farm machinery and wooden packaging pallets which were well alight.

“Further nearby potato crates were also well alight. The incident was sectorised and fought using three hosereel jets and one compressed air foam system jet with the water supply augmented from a nearby stream and a water relay dam.

“The incident was scaled back to three crews and then one, with relief crews also attending from Worcester and Bromsgrove.

“Dampening down continues using two hosereel jets. No other emergency services were required but ambulance and police were advised.”
