Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision on the A40 northern bypass at Longlevens on Thursday 7 October.
Shortly before 7.30pm emergency services received a report of a collision between the Elmbridge Court roundabout and the Longford roundabout, on the west-bound section of road.
The collision involved a silver Vauxhall Mokka and the riders of a horse and cart.
The rider of the horse and cart, a 50-year-old man sustained serious injuries and remains in a critical condition at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The passenger, a 20-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service Trust.
The driver of the car did not sustain any injuries and the horse sustained a graze to it’s leg.
Police would like to hear from anyone who travelled on the A40 northern bypass or who may have been in the area at the time that the collision occurred., or who may have seen a horse and buggy in the area.
Anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision or any footage that they may feel may be relevant is also asked to get in contact.
