A man who was attacked by two dogs in Stonnall, Staffordshire, yesterday afternoon (14 September) has sadly died.

From Staffordshire Police:

We were called just before 3.15pm to Main Street to reports that a man had been attacked by two dogs outside a property.

He was taken to hospital but sadly died as a result of his injuries last night. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

A 30-year-old man, from the Lichfield area, who was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of dogs dangerously out of control causing injury, has been further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

He will be interviewed by detectives today.

One of the dogs died after being restrained and the other died after an injection was given by a vet.
Itā€™s understood that the dogs are XL Bullys, however further tests are being carried out today to determine their breed.

Superintendent Tracy Meir said: ā€œI would like to offer my condolences to the loved ones of the man who tragically lost his life in this horrendous dog attack. We are continuing to support them at this incredibly difficult time.

ā€œDetectives continue to investigate and we have taken statements, viewed CCTV and carried out house-to-house enquiries in the local area but are keen to speak to anyone with information.ā€
