A man has been sentenced a life sentence, to serve a minimum of 18 years and 158 days, for the murder of a woman in Bromyard last year.
Julian Thomas, 55, of no fixed abode, appeared at Worcester Crown Court after previously entering a guilty plea to murder.
He also pleaded guilty to assaulting Ann Marie on 10 July last year, which was considered as part of the overall sentence.
On Saturday 27 September 2025, emergency services were called to Apple Tree Close, where 61-year-old Ann Marie Green was sadly found deceased.
Previously, the family of Ann Marie paid tribute by saying: “We are mourning the loss of a wonderful mum, stepmum, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother.
“Our mum was one of a kind. Always took in everybody as one of her own.
“She was kind, caring and as a family we are all lost without her.
“Losing her has left a great hole in our lives that can never be filled.
“We will now concentrate on grieving as a family and getting her the justice she deserves.”
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher, from the Major Investigation Unit, said: “This was a brutal and senseless attack on a woman in her own community, and our thoughts remain firmly with Ann Marie’s family and loved ones as they continue to come to terms with their devastating loss.
“Thomas is a dangerous individual, and today’s sentence ensures he will no longer pose a threat to the public. While no sentence can ever undo the harm caused, we hope this outcome provides some measure of justice for Ann Marie’s family and reflects the seriousness of his actions.
“I would also like to recognise the dedication and professionalism of the investigation team, whose work ensured Thomas was brought to justice.”
