Billy Hollingsworth Tribute from his loving family

Billy Hollingsworth. Forever 18.

Our Billy tragically died in a car accident on Monday 16th December 2024, changing our lives forever.

His life was far too short but he was loved so deeply and he loved us all in return.

He leaves a void in the lives of so many people: his beloved mum Kate and big brother Jake, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, his girl Chloe, and hoards of friends who cherished and loved him dearly. He will remain a part of all of our hearts forever.

Billy made friends easily, was loyal, kind hearted, playful and fun loving. He was quiet and calm, but when he spoke, people listened. He was very funny and lit up the room with his dazzling smile and his perfect hair. He loved spending time with his family and his friends and he loved to dance.

Billy was just starting out on his career as a barber having trained in Manchester. He took pride in his work and had a great relationship with his clients, colleagues and mentors at Urban Barbers.

Billy had hoped to return to live in Manchester for a while and had dreams of having a family of four children when he was older. These dreams will never come to pass and we grieve the life he doesn’t get to lead.

From Billy’s mum, Kate, “To lose his Dad when he was a baby and now losing Billy is an unimaginable tragedy, a grief too big. I hadn’t finished looking after him.

“The only way forward is with my eldest son Jake close by, the support of our wonderful family and our dearest friends. We will look for the glimmers of love and hope, they are all around us.

“Billy is in the arms of his Dad now. Forever 18.”

We, Billy’s family, wish to thank the community of Hereford and beyond for the outpouring of love and support received via messages, cards, letters and flowers.

We would also like to thank each and every member of the emergency services who helped with the accident, especially our wonderful Police Family Liaison Officers. They are so incredibly supportive, professional and respectful, available for us day and night and guiding us through the darkest of days. It takes special people to do that job.

Billy’s funeral will be held at Hereford Cathedral on Thursday 23rd January 2025 at 13:00 followed by a wake at the Green Dragon. The family invite all who wish to honour Billy to join us for the service and the wake.

Family flowers only but if you would like to make a donation in Billy’s name, please donate to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity for bereaved military children, of which Billy was a member.
