Motorists are being warned to plan ahead, with a major route in Herefordshire set to be closed for two days, for tree removal works to take place.

The A417 will be closed from Humber Brook (Hope-under-Dinmore) to Richland Farm at Bodenham from 9am – 3.30pm on both Monday 3rd February and Tuesday 4th February.

A letter sent to local residents and businesses said:

‘We need to inform you about essential tree removal works due to ash dieback disease on A417 from Humber Brook to Richland Farm, Bodenham.

‘Works will be taking place under a full road closure, starting on Monday 3rd February 2025 to (and including) Tuesday 4th February 2025.

‘The road will be closed between 9:00 and 15:30 each day.

‘The fully signed diversion route is via the A417 / A4103 / A49 and vice versa.

‘We will do all we can to provide vehicular access to properties, although there may be times when we are not able to do so safely or there may be delays. You can get help and guidance from the dedicated marshals on site.

‘We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. At Balfour Beatty we work in partnership with Herefordshire Council to minimise the impact of our work and try to keep all disruption to a minimum – we appreciate your patience.

‘The programme of work may change in certain circumstances, such as severe weather. This may happen at short notice and without further notification. All changes will be highlighted on the advance warning signs, which you’ll find onsite at the roadworks.
