A planning application has been submitted to Herefordshire Council, to turn an empty disused area of Hereford Railway Station into a space for commercial / community use.

The application, submitted by Transport for Wales, proposes the refurbishment of an existing disused space at the station, to include an internal access ramp, so that the room can be used for either commercial or community use.

Transport for Wales are looking to improve facilities, with social and commercial development projects at six stations across Wales and The Borders, including at Hereford Railway Station.

It’s hoped, that with step free access, that this empty space, could become a vibrant and busy space, for either a commercial company or a community group.

Currently Hereford Railway Station has a limited number of facilities, that include a ticket office and a cafe.

Transport for Wales says in a statement on the planning application that the proposed refurbishment of the disused unit are sensitive to the historic context of the building.
