Lidl has started a consultation period over plans for a new food store, medical centre and nursery in Herefordshire.

The new store, would be built alongside a nursery and a medical centre on the outskirts of Ledbury.

Lidl states that the ‘proposals for this site are multi-use and can deliver much-needed community facilities to benefit Ledbury residents.’

This scheme would deliver increased and affordable shopping choice for residents, a new nursery for families, and a much-needed medical centre to serve the community.

New jobs would be created across healthcare, childcare and the foodstore, providing a range of opportunities for local people.

Accessed from Dymock Road and adjacent to Leadon Way, the proposals include significant landscaping and tree planting to achieve a biodiversity net gain, as well as ample parking spaces including EV charging points and cycle parking.

The plans include:

A new and modern Lidl store built to the very latest specification, including in-store facilities like Lidl’s popular bakery, large sales area, and customer toilets with baby changing facilities.

A new medical centre to serve Ledbury. Discussions are taking place with the local health service on the medical centre’s operation.

A new children’s nursery with gardens to accompany.

Parking spaces across the three uses, including accessible and parent & child bays, and cycle parking.

A range of employment opportunities across the foodstore, medical centre, and nursery. Lidl stores create around 40 jobs in a range of full and part-time roles, with entry-level staff earning Lidl’s competitive £12.40 per hour starting pay.

Enhanced environmental features including solar panels on the store roof and rapid electric vehicle chargers in the parking area. Lidl has an ongoing commitment to enhance the sustainability of its stores.

Extensive landscaping across the site including soft planting buffers around the site border.
