Police are appealing for information following reports of a shocking incident at a farm in the Presteigne area.
From Dyfed-Powys Police:
“Our Rural Crime Team Officers are investigating a report of livestock worrying in the Presteigne area.
“The incident happened on Friday 17/04/2026 sometime between 8:30pm and 9:00pm.
“Two dogs have been seen in an enclosed agricultural field containing livestock – ewes and lambs.
“The dogs have attacked the livestock resulting in (at the time of writing) x1 dead ewe, x2 dead lambs and x1 injured ewe.
“Dogs – described as Border Collie (black & white) and a larger terrier type (mostly white).
“Livestock attacks or worrying are criminal offences and come under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953, where a dog(s) attacks or chases livestock causing death, injury or suffering.
“This isn’t just a threat to a farmer or land owner’s livelihood, it’s also a dangerous situation for the animals involved, and could lead to more risk if the animals get onto the road.
“Always keep your dog under control around other animals and if you see a dog on the loose worrying animals, report it to us.”
