Visiting arrangements at hospitals across Herefordshire have changed a lot over recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with restrictions returning to a small number of wards in Herefordshire this week following new outbreaks of COVID-19. 

The updated visiting arrangements at the Trust’s hospitals are:

Paediatrics – County Hospital

Two parents can now be present together at the same time. However, this does need to be agreed in advance with the nurse in charge and to maintain social distancing on the areas of the ward.  Siblings are not permitted other than in exceptional circumstances.

Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) – County Hospital

Parents can be present at all times.  More information is available on the SCBU page.

UPDATED 22/6/22 – Siblings and grandparents are permitted to visit.  However, this does need to be arranged in advance with the midwife in charge.

Maternity – County Hospital 

2 x support person can attend delivery suite throughout the stay

1 x support person can attend triage for labour assessment

1 x support person can attend for Induction of labour process (although restrictions may exist and booking slots may need to be agreed with midwife in charge)

On the maternity ward: UPDATED 27/5/22

They should not attend if they have Covid symptoms

1 x designated support person can visit during the period 9am to 9pm (this cannot be different visitors/support person

Outbreaks

In the event a ward has an outbreak, it will be closed to visitors for a short period of time.  This will be publicised on our website and relatives/visitors will also be notified of this by the nurse in charge. 

Virtual visiting would be available in these circumstances.

Special provision would be made for end of life or other compassionate ground.

CCU – County Hospital

Two daily visits are permitted for patients staying in hospital from the first day of their stay.  

However, patients can only have a single visitor at any one time but this can be a different visitor for the two maximum visits per day.

All visits must be booked by prior appointment with the nurse in charge.

Visiting hours daily from 10am until 1pm and 4pm-8pm.

Ashgrove Ward – County Hospital

Ashgrove Ward is currently closed to visitors due to cases of COVID-19.  Unless there are exceptional circumstances – please speak to the nurse in charge.

County Hospital: Lugg Ward, Acute Medical Unit, Redbrook Ward, Orthopaedic unit, Teme Ward, Wye Ward, Arrow Ward, Women’s Health Ward (located on Frome Ward 1st floor), Frome Ward (surgical), Gilwern Ward, Garway Ward and Dinmore Ward

Two daily visits are permitted for patients staying in hospital from the first day of their stay.  

However, patients can only have a single visitor at any one time but this can be a different visitor for the two maximum visits per day.

All visits must be booked by prior appointment with the nurse in charge.

Visiting hours daily from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-8pm.

Please note that visiting restrictions may be changed if there is an outbreak on a ward.

Intensive Care Unit 

The nurse in charge of the patient’s care will undertake a risk assessment and make a decision on a case by case basis.

Emergency Department

There are no specific visiting times – patients in ED can be escorted by one relative/carer while they receive treatment in the department.

Leominster

Leominster Community Hospital wards are currently closed to visitors due to cases of COVID-19.  Unless there are exceptional circumstances – please speak to the nurse in charge.

Bromyard

Visiting times – 2pm to 5pm and 6pm to 7pm.

Two daily visits are permitted for patients staying in hospital from the first day of their stay.

However, patients can only have a single visitor at any one time, but this can be a different visitor for the two maximum visits per day.

All visits must be booked by prior arrangement with the nurse in charge.

Ross-on-Wye 

Ross Community Hosptial wards are currently closed to visitors due to cases of COVID-19.  Unless there are exceptional circumstances – please speak to the nurse in charge.
