Wye Valley Runners of Hereford are delighted that a hand made oak bench in memory of much loved club member Jan Edwards has finally been installed following a Crowdfunding appeal.
The bench was purchased after £1680 was raised in just over a week earlier this year. Donations came in from people from all over the county and beyond.
Hand crafted and hand engraved , the bench sits atop Tillington Common near Herefordshire – one of Jan’s favourite spots. Jan’s family and her partner Brian hope that the bench is used by passing walkers, cyclists and runners for many years to come.
“The project was organised by Dave Sherwood from the running club”, Dave said.
“We were taken aback by the response to the appeal and we are extremely grateful to everyone for their amazing generosity. We hope that the bench brings much happiness to locals and visitors alike – thank you to everyone for helping us to keep Jan’s memory alive. We are very grateful to Burghill Parish Council for their help and support with the project and to Paul Davies builders for donating their time and materials”.
