Campaign group Wye Ruin It? have taken to social media to celebrate Herefordshire Council’s decision to scrap the Western Bypass of Hereford.
Wye Ruin It? had previously set up a petition pushing for the bypass to be scrapped. It received over 1,400 signatures prior to the councils decision yesterday.
The group said:
“We would like to thank the Coalition Council for upholding the Climate and Ecological Emergency in rejecting the destructive road building schemes that have sucked £12 million out of council funds in the last twelve years.
“Chuck out the Bypass…..Votes 27 for vs 19 against with six abstentions
“Thank you everyone we love you. Good night and good luck.”
