Samantha Higgins from Hereford runs Indulge Beauty and Make Up, and has struggled the past five months as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause havoc across the wedding industry.
Samantha told us “All of the beauty and make up artistry industry, including myself , have been significantly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. The beauty industry was closed for 16 weeks and since it has reopened only a select few treatments have been allowed, which will impact many local salons. Along with this make up artists have been unable to return to work and many weddings have been cancelled, which is a main source of income for most make up artists in Herefordshire. Over the past 5 months I have had to rearrange over 20 weddings and try to support my brides in navigating this stressful and ever-evolving situation. Many other local wedding suppliers and venues including myself, have been hit by the coronavirus”
Samantha added ” On average the wedding industry contributes £10 billion pounds a year to the economy. This shows how much money the wedding industry brings in, and how many small businesses rely on having a successful wedding season to survive, year upon year.
