West Mercia Police have revealed how many motorists have been issued with fixed penalty notices after speeding on Belmont Road in Hereford.
Herefordshire’s only permanent speed camera is located on the A465 (Belmont Road) in Hereford, near McDonald’s.
In a recent freedom of information request, West Mercia Police revealed data for 2023/24 and 2024/25.
“In 23/24 there were 1867 speed offences detected. Of these, 1650 were offered a speed awareness course option and 81 were offered the fixed penalty.
“In 23/24 433 offenders at this site accepted the fixed penalty of £100 fine and 3 penalty points.
“The highest speed detected was 73MPH by a West Midlands ambulance.
“In 24/25 there were 1643 speed offence detected. Of these, 1492 were offered a speed awareness course option and 56 were offered the fixed penalty.
“Due to the 6 month’s limitation of proceedings not all alleged offences have been resolved. To date, 340 offenders at this site have accepted the fixed penalty of £100 fine and 3 penalty points.
“The highest speed detected was 65MPH by a West Mercia Police car.
“Please note: the difference in figures is due to some of the fixed penalty notices being cancelled after they were issued. Also we do not hold the information on fines paid as these go to central government.”
