West Mercia Police are investigating concerning reports that scammers are targeting elderly people in Herefordshire.
It comes following an incident that occurred in the Ledbury area.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:
“We are currently investigating a call made to an elderly resident in Ledbury where the fraudster has said that they were calling from the bank and that there has been suspicious activity on the account.
“The elderly person has said that they were unable to get to the bank & the fraudster has offered to send someone to the address to collect the card.
“Thankfully, the elderly person has not handed over the card.”
What you can do to help:
STOP before you share information or pay money.
THINK: is this a scam, or is it real?
GET HELP if you think you may have given information or money to someone as part of payment.
Please share with family members, friends, elderly or vulnerable neighbours that this is currently happening in the Ledbury area.
