West Mercia Police are carrying out night patrols in the Leominster area following a number of incidents.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police (Leominster Safer Neighbourhood Team) said:
“Leominster Safer Neighbourhood team have been working in partnership with Dyfed-Powys, Ludlow, Roads Policing Officers and Dog handlers for night time/early hours patrols.
“Eleven double crewed vehicles (marked and unmarked) all attended an area in the north of Herefordshire which had previously been identified as being targeted by thieves.
“The teams worked through out the night into the early hours, stop checking vehicles and occupants for documentation and purpose for travels.
“Between the teams, over 40 vehicles were stopped and checked, two of those were also searched for the possibility of going equipped to steal.
“The aim of the operation is not only to catch the criminals and deter any would be offenders, but also to reassure our rural communities that we are listening to concerns around the number of barn/outbuilding thefts.”
