A warning has been issued to all dog walkers in Hereford, following a concerning incident that occurred on Tuesday (1st April).

A local resident shared on Facebook:

“I’d like to just warn people who walk their dogs around Newton farm/oval area.

“Today at around 3:40pm my Mum was walking her 4 month old puppy near Newton farm skatepark when a small French bulldog viciously attacked her puppy and has bitten my partner when he was in the process of trying to remove it from her face.

“It resulted in my Mum’s puppy’s nose being torn and a hefty vet bill.

“She is now very timid and is worried around people/dogs, hopefully that is just a temporary reaction as she is as soft as a biscuit and wouldn’t hurt a fly – she didn’t retaliate during the attack.

“The French bulldog had no type of muzzle/ secure collar or harness however it did have a yellow lead sleeve which had small writing on but couldn’t make out what it said.

“The man walking had no control and made no conscious effort to warn us.

“Police have been contacted and it’s being investigated.

“Please be vigilant as I don’t think this is a first time offender.”
