Your Herefordshire understands that a ward closure has been put in place on the Ashgrove Ward at Hereford County Hospital due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
This follows an update earlier from Wye Valley NHS Trust that confirmed that face masks must be worn again in clinical areas.
An update released earlier said:
“Patients and visitors are required to wear a face mask in all clinical areas at Trust sites.”
This follows the news that Ross Community Hosptial wards are also currently closed to visitors due to cases of COVID-19.
The closures will come as no surprise to local health officials with cases on the rise once again across Herefordshire, with those eligible for boosters urged to book them.
In the seven day period ending 1st October, Herefordshire saw a 35.7% rise in new cases, with 194 new cases recorded in total, however this number is likely to be significantly higher due to a huge fall in testing in comparison to previous surges of the virus.
