Tenbury Wells Fire Station has provided an update following a fire at a popular pub on the Shropshire / Herefordshire border on Thursday.

From Tenbury Wells Fire Station:

“We were called at approximately 16:10 on Thursday to a fire in the cellar of The Salwey Arms at Woofferton.

“We attended alongside a fire crew from Ludlow Fire Station and Leominster Fire Station and an officer from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

“Three firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the cellar with a main jet to extinguish a fire.

“Crews used two Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fans to clear the smoke. A Gas Monitor was also used to detect residual carbon monoxide fumes produced from the fire.

“We left the incident with a crew from Ludlow (Shropshire FRS) at approximately 17:30.”

The owners have released the statement below:

As many of you may already know, we experienced an incident earlier today involving a fire. Thankfully, we are all safe, and for that, we are truly grateful. However, in light of the situation, we will not be operating as usual for the time being.
