Two people have been charged in relation to the death of nine-year-old Alfie Steele from Droitwich, Worcestershire.
Carla Scott, 34, and Dirk Howell, 40, have both been charged with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.
The charges relate to an incident in Droitwich on 18 February 2021.
They have both also been charged with cruelty to a person aged under 16 between 13 July 2019 and 18 February 2021.
They were remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on 25 February.
