Tributes have been pouring in overnight following the news that Anthony ‘Fred’ Birch has sadly passed away.

Fred was very popular and known by so many people in Hereford for being approachable, friendly and just such a genuine guy. Here are a few of the tributes that have been posted on social media.

Andrew Boucher: “To say I’m devastated at this very sad news is an understatement. A good ol’ mate from school days and we didn’t even go to the same school!! We had some laughs then and in the turquoise and yellow Datsun days with Mass, Bish & Beef to name but a few and in the intervening years and recently of course which I’ll never forget. Always brought a smile to my face. My thoughts are with his son Charlie boy, his sister Dawn, his mum Iris, his dad Tommy and the rest of his family at this very sad time. Love you mate. RIP Anthony ‘Fred’ Birch. You will never be forgotten xx”

Sharon Mann: “Fred Birch was such a good bloke and always smiling and looking happy. RIP Fred.”
