Violent thunderstorms have wreaked havoc across Herefordshire this evening with flash flooding, fallen trees and power cuts all affecting the area.
A large area of thunderstorms moved across the area early this evening, with fork lightning and intense downpours leading to dangerous conditions. Several roads in Hereford were blocked by flood water with Ledbury Road, Belmont Road, the Asda Roundabout and Whitecross Road all badly affected.
Social media was quickly filled with photos and videos of flooded roads and cars struggling to get through flood water. Asda superstore and Tesco in Bewell Street both had to temporarily close due to problems with leaks.
Herefordshire Council and West Mercia Police both took to social media to advise against all but essential travel.
The worst of the storms have now moved away, but further thunderstorms are possible tomorrow.
