Much has been made over recent weeks about the possibility of Herefordshire moving down to Tier 1 restrictions from 16th December, if infection rates in Herefordshire continue to fall. However, much of the thinking behind the decision that the government will make on the 16th December will be based not just on the infection rate in Herefordshire but also in surrounding counties.

The infection rate in Herefordshire, in data up until the 29th November, shows an infection rate of 70 cases per 100,000 population, the lowest that it has been for several weeks.

Here are the infection rates for surrounding counties. (Data up until 29th November 2020)

MONMOUTHSHIRE: 176 total cases in the 7 days up until 29th November. That’s an infection rate of 186.1 cases per 100,000 population.

SHROPSHIRE: 327 total cases in the 7 days up until 29th November. That’s an infection rate of 101.2 cases per 100,000 population.
