Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate continues to rise, with a significant increase in cases over recent weeks. However, some local areas are seeing a much more significant increase in infection rates with both Worcestershire and Shropshire recording huge jumps over recent days.

COVID-19 INFECTION RATES IN HEREFORDSHIRE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA (DATA UP UNTIL 4TH JANUARY):

Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate is currently 361.5 cases per 100,000 population. This is an increase on two weeks ago when the COVID-19 infection rate in the county was at 163.4 cases per 100,000 population.

Worcestershire’s COVID-19 infection rate is currently rising rapidly. Data shows an infection rate of 543.7 cases per 100,000 population, with two parts of Worcester recording infection rates of above 1,000 cases per 100,000 population. This is a dramatic increase on two weeks ago when the COVID-19 infection rate in Worcestershire was at 189.5 cases per 100,000 population.

Shropshire’s COVID-19 infection rate is seeing a sharp increase. Data shows an infection rate of 419 cases per 100,000 population. This is a huge increase on the 100 cases per 100,000 population recorded just two weeks ago.

Gloucestershire’s COVID-19 infection rate is rising, but not at as fast a pace as counties such as Worcestershire or Shropshire. Data shows an infection rate of 378.3 cases per 100,000 population. This is an increase on the 207.2 cases per 100,000 population that was recorded two weeks ago.

Monmouthshire’s COVID-19 infection rate is falling. Data shows an infection rate of 344.6 cases per 100,000 population. This is down on two weeks ago when the COVID-19 infection rate was at 448.3 cases per 100,000 population. Monmouthshire and a number of areas of South Wales are now seeing falls in infection rates.

Powys COVID-19 infection rate is rising, but at a steady rate. Data shows an infection rate of 240.1 cases per 100,000 population. This is an increase on the 180.5 cases per 100,000 population that was recorded two weeks ago.
