Following the tragic news of the death of Sarah Everard, when she was walking home from a friends house in London, many people have taken to social media to share their concerns about walking alone, especially at night.
A serving Met Police officer has since been charged with Sarah’s murder and will appear in court today.
Many people have suggested ideas to help keep people safe, but one of the most popular has been for iPhone users. By going to settings and activating the Emergency SOS feature, if you ever find yourself in danger, you can tap the lock screen button five times and it will automatically active a call to the emergency services. You can also set up emergency contacts so that they will also be contacted if you ever find yourself in trouble.
It’s a little different on Android phones, where you have to go to your lock screen and click “Emergency”. You then need to click “Emergency information” and then either a plus sign or a pencil symbol depending on your phone. You’ll be asked for a password and can then update you medical information and add any emergency contacts.
