The Hereford Street Pastors are usually on patrol from 10pm to 4am on a Friday or Saturday night in Hereford, to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets. On occasions there can be multiple incidents in the city and communication is key.

Ian Purcell from Hereford Street Pastors told Your Herefordshire

“Mercia Radios have been invaluable with supplying and supporting Vennture with the expert advice and equipment that helps to keep our Street Presence teams safe in both the daytime and night time economy. We have been working with Mercia Radios since the start of our teams going on the street. Together with the retail shops in the day time, and the door staff in the evening, our teams are equipped to keep safe with the connection to the team operating the CCTV”

Ian continued “Vennture desire that their volunteers are both kept safe and feel safe. This would not be possible without the partnership with others in the City. There have been occasions when our using the radios has enabled us to receive live updates from CCTV about the dangers and risks of scenarios that we are in, enabling us to make effective decisions that we would not have known with our own knowledge. Radio communication assists our teams in our goal to respond within four minutes of being informed of any incident on the streets of our City and in so doing helping us to help others to have a good time and come home safe”
