The Teddy Bears Picnic event that was set to take place at Shobdon Airfield today has had to be postponed, following the sad news that a man died after his aircraft crashed at the airfield last week.
In a post on Facebook, Herefordshire Aero Club said:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances we are postponing this event.
“We apologise for the disappointment but we hope to see everyone when we rearrange the event.”
West Mercia Police confirmed last week that a man has died after his aircraft crashed at the airfield.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:
“A man in his fifties has sadly died following a plane crash at Shobdon Airfield, Leominster, Herefordshire.
“The single engine, fixed wing light aircraft came down at around 10am (Friday 26 August).
“No one else was on board, there were no other injuries and no other aircraft was involved.
“The Air Accidents Investigation Branch will be investigating the cause of the crash.”
