The Leominster area is currently recording some of the highest COVID-19 infection rates in the United Kingdom, with Leominster North currently recording a ‘very high’ infection rate.

Latest data released by Public Health England indicates that in the seven day period ending 9th November, a total of 55 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the Leominster North area, an increase of 83.3% on the previous seven day period. This means that the COVID-19 infection rate in this area of the town was 908.2 cases per 100,000 population.

It’s a similar situation in Leominster South, with latest data from Public Health England indicating that in the seven day period ending 9th November, a total of 48 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, an increase of 128.6% on the previous week. This means that the COVID-19 infection rate in this area of the town was 757.6 cases per 100,000 population.

Overall, Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate has been falling, despite the spike in cases in the Leominster area. In the seven day period ending 9th November, 770 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the county. This is a decrease of 16.8% on the previous seven day period. This means that the COVID-19 infection rate in Herefordshire was 397.7 cases per 100,000 population.
