Weather forecasters are predicting snow and ice for vast swathes of the United Kingdom next week, with the United Kingdom expected to see its coldest week of the winter so far.

Weather models such as the GFS, ECM and UKMO all show winds switching to an easterly direction later this weekend, with snow showers drifting into eastern areas. Snow is also likely across parts of the Midlands and Wales as these showers and fronts spread south and westwards.

Overnight lows are predicted to fall to as low as -10c where snowfall occurs and settles.

The Met Office has issued weather warnings for some parts of the United Kingdom already, with further warnings expected to be added to this over the coming days.
