Overnight, a number of Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to reports of a house fire in a Herefordshire village.

The fire had occurred at a property in the village of Wormbridge. 

Crews from Hereford and Ewyas Harold were in attendance.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (Ewyas Harold Fire Station) said:

“Crew mobilised to report of house fire, Wormbridge. Assisted by 2 pumps from Hereford.

“Upon arrival, crew memebers entered the property under BA and were directed to first floor bathroom which was filled with smoke. 

“Thermal imaging camera used to locate fire between the floor boards directly above the flu for the kitchens Range cooker. 

“Luckily the call to 999 was made quickly and the spread was minimal. No injuries sustained to occupants.

“Crews continued to investigate source of heat through the internal wall, removing brickwork and floorboards into early hours of the night.

“A re-investigation was made by Hereford crew later in the night to ensure that there was no further spread.”
