Blackmarston School in Hereford has confirmed that it has taken the decision to close for two weeks after COVID-19 cases were confirmed at the school.

A letter sent to parents said:

We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a further case of COVID-19 within the school and following discussion with Public Health England, Herefordshire County Council and the Chair of Governors, the school will now close for 11 working days, from Friday 13th November to Friday 27th November inclusive and it will re-open to pupils on Monday 30th November.

We have followed national guidance at all times and feel this is an appropriate response to reduce the risk of further infections at the school and keep pupils, families and staff safe. A deep clean of the school will start from Monday 16th November. We recognise that this will come as a shock to many of you, but we believe that this is the right decision.

Pupils that have come into close contact with the individuals have been contacted with a separate letter.
