A number of overnight road closures are expected to cause delays on the A49 between Hereford and Ludlow over the coming weeks, National Highways has confirmed.
Rock Green to Bromfield

Full closure of the A49 from A4113 junction at Bromfield to Rock Green roundabout
Diversion:
NB traffic will be diverted from Rock Green roundabout, taking the A4117 EB. Traffic will remain on the A4117 until the B4364 junction, taking the B4364 NB. Traffic will remain on the B4364 until the A458 roundabout, taking the A458 NB. Traffic will remain on the A458 until the B4368, where traffic will join the B4368 WB, remaining the B4368 until re-joining the A49 in Craven Arms, where the diversion ends.
Wooferton to Rock Green
18-25 January 2022
Full closure of the A49 from Rock Green roundabout to B4362 junction
Diversion:
NB traffic will be diverted at the A456 junction, taking the A456 EB. Traffic will remain on the A456 until reaching the junction with the A4117, taking the A4117 NWB until re-joining the A49 at Rock Green roundabout where the diversion ends.
Temporary traffic lights will be required at the A445/A4117 junction.
Leominster to Bromfield
25-27 January 2022
Leominster to Wooferton – exact closure points TBC
Diversion:
NB traffic will be diverted at the A49/A44 roundabout at Leominster, taking the A44 WB. Traffic will remain on the A44 until reaching the A4110 junction, joining the A4110 NB, remaining on the A4110 until joining the A4113 NB at Leintwardine. Traffic will remain on the A4113 until rejoining the A49 at Bromfield.
A temporary closure will be in place on the A49 between Hereford and Leominster next month.
Work is set to take place overnight on Thursday 3rd February from 9pm and finish on Friday 4th February at 6am, with closures set to affect sections of the road between the junction with the A4103 (Starting Gate) in Hereford and the A417 (Hope-under-Dinmore).
The road closure will be in place for inspection/survey work to take place.
