Residents in Longhope have this morning been told to keep windows and doors closed following a large fire and reports of an explosion at an industrial unit.
Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue posted the following message across their social media platforms:
“We’ve been called to a fire at Longhope Business Park on Monmouth Road. The incident is under control but if you’re likely to be affected please make sure you keep windows closed as there’s smoke in the air.”
Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the fire was at at the old Richard Read transport depot.
Local resident Angela C posted on Twitter saying: “An horrendous explosion that shook the whole village, followed by an intense fire, at the old Richard Read transport site, Longhope, Forest of Dean, a while ago.”
