Local residents living in an area of Hereford have shared their concern about anti-social behaviour and a lack of maintenance on a housing estate in Hereford.
Residents living in the Staddlestone Circle area of Saxon Gate of Hereford have said that they have repeatedly reported anti-social behaviour in the area, with smashed bottles, late night gatherings, rubbish and drug dealing just some of the issues occurring.
One resident told Your Herefordshire:
“We’ve been faced with drugs, assaults, late night gatherings, rubbish (inc. broken glass, vomit, evidence of drug use, drug dealing, noise, the use of mini motorbikes on public highways and pavements racing around at speed (people, dogs and young children tend to walk on the grass rather than the path as it is unsafe), general nuisances.
“This is making the Circle a place residents and families now avoid.
“All the above has been reported to either the Police or Herefordshire Council.
“Yet the area remains unkept and unpatrolled. Despite the fact we all pay Herefordshire Council tax, which is constantly increasing, with less services to show for it.
“Saxon Gate housing estate has weeds, shrubs growing on the side of the roads, roundabouts and paths.
“The grassed areas are not being cut as regular as previous years. What are the increased costs being used on is our question?
“The Circle is also is so badly maintained and the paths are inaccessible, discriminating against families and wheelchair users.
“Some of the residents, next day litter pick and clear away the party evidence – even though there are two bins well placed by the benches that people choose to simply drop their rubbish.
“It is a place at which in the evening residents avoid. It is an unsafe area, and I for one feel genuinely vulnerable, I am not alone in this.
“What was a desirable area and a very pleasant place to stop and chat whilst dog walking is now a dark place in so many ways.“
