A local resident has taken to social media to share information about a concerning incident that occurred in Herefordshire overnight.

In a post on Voice of Ledbury, the local resident said:

“I just wanted to raise some awareness about an incident that took place last night (early hours of 22nd August).
I was driving home, alone, from work just after 00:35/12:35am and a Highway-Maintenance marked van began to follow me.

“It didn’t have any safety markings on the back, and was a plain white van with ‘Highway Maintenance’ written on the rear or side.

“The van was parked by the bus stop (opposite the garage), and pulled out behind me.

“It followed me to my home address, although continued driving past and into the cul-de-sac once I pulled onto my driveway.

“Whilst following me, the van flashed its lights several times. I’ve always been told not to stop for flashing vehicles whilst driving on my own at night, unless they are the emergency services (including Police), so I did not stop.

“I unfortunately did not get the number plate of the van.

“I’m a female in my early 20s, and this has left me feeling very anxious and panicked. From where the van was positioned, it’s possible that they may have seen me leave my workplace and get into my car alone.

“I’m thankful that the lights were on at home, as I think this may have deterred whoever was following me in some way. I wanted to post about it in case anyone is walking/driving alone at night.

“Stay safe and thank you for reading.”
