West Mercia Police officers are searching for two men who were seen exiting a vehicle wearing balaclavas and rubber gloves in a Herefordshire village.

The incident occurred in the village of Fownhope.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:

“Good Afternoon, we would like to make you aware of the following.

“On 21/04/2024 at 5:55 AM, two individuals, both male, were observed exiting a vehicle wearing balaclavas and rubber gloves I’m Fownhope.

“One of them was seen wiping around the number plate area.

“Shortly after, they were picked up by a BMW, which is believed to have false plates.

“Informant thought it was unusual behaviour given the early morning hour and the presence of daylight.

“Furthermore, the vehicle they left behind had VRM plates that appeared flimsy, as if hastily applied, with noticeable residue.

“This suggests potential tampering or alteration. The vehicle, lacking keys, was left securely locked.

“In light of these observations, and the suspicion that the other vehicle may have been stolen, the vehicle has been recovered due to suspicions of its involvement in criminal activities.”
