A police investigation has been launched after a number of newborn puppies died after being found in Leominster.
Update shared by Hereford & Worcester Animal Rescue this weekend:
“A number of newborn puppies have been found and recovered in Leominster this morning, sadly all have passed away.
“We are unsure if there could be anymore, if anyone knows anything please do come forward.
“Thank you to all who have shared this distressing post so far and have given information.
“We cannot disclose any more information right now.”
Earlier update:
“URGENT PLEA FOR INFORMATION!
“This lovely girl was taken to a local veterinary practice this morning with a request to be euthanised as the person had a genuine concern for her welfare as she was bleeding heavily.
“After being thoroughly checked by the lovely vet staff it was clear that this sweetheart had given birth very recently, likely within the previous few hours.
“This is clearly a very complex case where not all details are known, which is why we would really appreciate any information that can be shared.
Negative and judgmental comments are not helpful right now especially as we do not know the full facts, our concern is for the welfare of the puppies, if they are still alive.
“We believe mum arrived in The LEOMINSTER area of Herefordshire in recent weeks.
“Mum is now safe with us and as comfortable as can be under these sad and relatively unknown circumstances, she has been scanned to ensure there are no puppies remaining inside, has been monitored and well cared for by vet staff all day.
We will continue to support and care for her.
“If anyone knows anything about this girl or possible whereabouts of any puppies please contact us, anonymously if needed.”
An update shared by West Mercia Police on Sunday (1st December) said:
“We are aware of a post Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue put out on Friday 29th November regarding a female dog being taken to a local vet in Leominster requesting information for the location of her puppies.
“From working with the local community and this fantastic charity, it is with regret, a number of puppies have been found who have sadly passed away.
“The circumstances are unknown at this time, and an investigation is underway.
“If anyone has any information, please could you contact PC Stobbart by emailing adam.stobbart@westmercia.police.uk”
