Police in Herefordshire have issued an alert, following two burglaries in a Herefordshire village.
From West Mercia Police:
“We’ve had reports of two burglaries on St Mary’s Lane, Burghill.
“Both incidents are believed to have taken place overnight between 2nd and 3rd February.
“In both cases, the residents were away on holiday. We believe the suspects to have entered St Mary’s Lane via the fields behind, and entered each house to the rear, breaking a window to gain entry.
“We are appealing for information and asking residents to be extra vigilant.
“Please check CCTV, Ring doorbells, and dashcam footage for anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
“If you saw or heard anything unusual in the area, please report it.
“If you have any information, please contact us via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111, quoting reference 22/10143/25.”
Crime Prevention Advice:
– Secure doors and windows: Ensure all external doors have sturdy locks, and windows are closed and locked when you’re not at home.
– Install lighting: Outdoor motion-sensor lighting can act as a deterrent.
– Keep valuables out of sight: Avoid leaving items such as jewellery and electronics visible from windows.
– Mark your property: Use a UV pen or other property marking systems to make stolen items easier to trace.
– Be a good neighbour: Keep an eye on each other’s properties and report anything unusual.
