Police have recovered a stolen vehicle that was being driven on false number plates.
From West Mercia Police:
“A stolen vehicle that had been located by Operational Support Unit (OPU) officers and was heading into Malvern was being driven on false number plates.
“The OPU officers requested assistance from Malvern officers to carry out a pre-emptive sting of the tyres of the van, to prevent the vehicle from attempting to escape police.
“The vehicle was stung by E shift Malvern response officers and the OPU officers moved in on the stolen vehicle.
“The vehicle failed to stop but quickly gave up and pulled over after realising that it could not get away with several flat tyres.
“In a situation where there is a risk of a vehicle trying to escape police at high speeds, the preferred option is to carry out pre-emptive tactics to disable or contain the vehicle to prevent a persuit and safeguard the public from potential dangerous driving.”
