Police are appealing for help in tracing the owner of a dog that reportedly bit a child in Gloucester.

It was reported that a 12-year-old girl had been using the play area at Holmleigh Park in Tuffley at around 4.50pm on Saturday (2 November).

The dog, believed to be a German Shepherd or Husky, ran over to her and bit her on the back of her leg, causing a small puncture wound and drawing blood.

The owner of the dog came over and, when he was told that the child had been injured, he dismissed it and walked away. It is believed he was with a woman and two children at the time.

Officers have released a mobile phone image of the dog and are asking the public for any help in identifying its owner.

The dog was described as having long white and grey hair. The owner is described as being a white man in his 30s.

Anyone with information about the dog or its owner is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the following form, quoting incident 379 of 2 November: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
