Police are appealing for people in Newent to report any suspicious activity after a spate of thefts and attempted burglaries from vehicles during August.
Officers have asked the public to let them know of any attempts to break in to cars, even if nothing has been taken.
It follows reports of a number of thefts from vehicles and attempted burglaries of properties in the town.
Thieves have been trying car door handles and are taking items if finding them unlocked. There have also been attempts to force open windows in houses.
Items including cash, tools, sunglasses and headphones have all been taken.
Police believe that a number of attempts are going unreported and are now urging people to come forward if they have been a victim.
Sergeant Nick Wheeler, of the Forest Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have had a number of suspicious incidents being reported to us by people in Newent over the last few weeks.
“Although many of the thefts from cars have been unsuccessful, we would still like to hear from anybody who believes they have been a victim of an attempt.”
