Plans have been submitted to Herefordshire Council for a new teaching block at John Kyrle High School in Ross-on-Wye.

The plans include the proposed construction of a standalone three storey teaching block containing six science teaching laboratories, science lesson preparation room, staff office and ancillary spaces including WC’s to facilitate a 1FE expansion with associated landscaping.

Plans have been submitted by John Kyrle High School with Darwin Group Ltd being the agent.

The planning application states:

“John Kyrle High School is a comprehensive 11-18 yrs of age school. The proposal is to construct a new three storey Science block to accommodate an additional 1 FE expansion of the school. This rise in pupil numbers is due to residential development in Ross-on-Wye town which has led to the
requirement for additional school places. Herefordshire Council are funding this project.

It is proposed to build a three storey science block to the north of the existing MUGA Pitch. This is an area which currently houses a disused long jump with grassed area which is generally undulating in nature so is not currently a usable play area for the school.
