Herefordshire Council has granted planning permission for a disused toilet block in Hereford to be turned into a micro distillery.

Plans were initially submitted in March 2021, but it took almost a year for a decision to be made.

Following that, a licensing application has now been submitted, with plans to open from 10am-10pm daily.

Now planning is approved, work can take place to turn the toilet block into a micro distillery, with up to four jobs expected to be created as part of the development. with plans detailing that two full time workers and two part time workers will be required.

The distillery will be named Golden Wake Distillery, with a covering letter detailing that Golden Wake Distillery started in 2020 with an online presence. The initial plan was to get involved with farmers markets and food festivals, but unfortunately that was not possible.

They are a family run distillery, specialising in Rum and they feel the premises would be ideal.

There will be no significant structural changes to the building as part of the development.
