Pizza Express is looking at closing 67 of its restaurants across the United Kingdom, due to the challenges it faces in recovering from the Coronavirus pandemic.

The company said: “This decision is a very difficult one; however, against the current unprecedented backdrop, Pizza Express believes reducing the size of its estate will help it to protect 9,000 jobs.”

Pizza Express closed all its UK restaurants on 23 March after the government-ordered lockdown, aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.

The company is yet to sign off the decision and therefore it is unknown whether the companies restaurant in Hereford will be affected by the plans.
